The Baltimore Orioles had a good night as they defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 7-4 and ended the Rays six game win streak.  The Orioles are now four games over .500 with a 15-11 record on the season.

Garrett Olson picked up the win for the Orioles to improve his record to 1-0 on the season.  Olson pitched 6.2 innings while giving up four hits and two runs.  Randor Bierd also gave up two runs as he pitched in relief of Olson.  George Sherrill picked up his tenth save of the season as he closed out the game in the ninth inning.

Aubrey Huff connected for a two run home run to led the Orioles at the plate.  Huff finished with two RBI as well did Melvin MoraNick Markakis, Kevin Millar, and Ramon Hernandez all had one RBI each as well.

The Baltimore Orioles rallied after being down five runs to the Seattle Mariners and pulled out a 8-7 victory.  The Orioles were quickly down five runs after only three innings of play, but that is when they turned things on at the plate and started to score some runs.

Jay Payton got things started in the fourth inning when he hit a solo home run to put the Orioles on the scoreboard.  In the fifth inning, Kevin Millar grounded into a double play, but did score one run.  The sixth inning, Adam Jones had a infield single that plated Payton.  It was the the seventh inning when the Orioles really did some damage as they scored four runs to take the lead.  That quickly went goodbye however as the Mariners came back and scored two runs in the bottom of the inning.  Good thing for Brian Roberts as he hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to give the Orioles a one run lead.

Chad Bradford pitched 1.1 innings of relief to pick up the win.  Bradford is now 2-1 on the season.  Starting pitcher Adam Loewen only lasted 2.2 innings as he gave up five runs on four hits.  Matt Albers and Jamie Walker both gave up a run out of the bullpen.

The hitters picked up the pitching staff on Thursday night, hopefully they won’t have to do that again on Friday when the Oriole start a series with the Chicago White Sox.

The Baltimore Orioles suffered a 4-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night.  In a game where the Orioles left 15 men on base, they just couldn’t get that big hit when they needed it to beat the Mariners.  With the loss, the Orioles record now stands at 11-9 on the season.

Jeremy Guthrie pitched 7.2 innings and took the loss for the Orioles.  Five hits, four runs (three earned), four walks, and five strikeouts was Guthrie’s line for the game.

Aubrey Huff led the Orioles at the plate as he hit a hit a solo home run and had one RBI.  Kevin Millar also had one RBI, but it clearly wasn’t enough to lift the Orioles to the win.  Nick Markakis went 1-3 but left four runners on base.

Even without the presence of the Yankees star third baseman Alex Rodriguez for the late part of the game, the Orioles were unable to pull in a win at home on Sunday against the Yankees.  Unable to get a run on the board until late in the game in the 8th inning, Baltimore struggled all night against the pitching of Andy Pettitte and the Yankees bullpen.

Baltimore opened up the night with Steve Trachsel on the mound and kept him there for six and a third innings before giving up the spot to Chad Bradford who immediately gave up a 2 run home run to the Yankees.  Trachsel took the loss for the Orioles and is now 1-3 on the season.  George Sherrill also gave up three earned runs out of the bullpen for the Orioles.

Baltimore didn’t have much hitting happening for them all night with only Brian Roberts picking up an RBI and with Kevin Millar and Guillermo Quiroz each getting a double.

With the Orioles leaving for a 3 game match up against the Mariners in Seattle, will they be able to rest up on their day off to get a win on Tuesday?

Wow, what a win for the Baltimore Orioles as they came back to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth inning and then went on for the win in ten innings against the Chicago White Sox.  That is the momentum that the Orioles need to hopefully got on a nice winning streak in the next five to seven games.

Adam Jones singled in the game winning run in the 10th inning after the Orioles had tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning.  In the ninth inning, the Orioles got RBI’s from Brian Roberts and Melvin Mora that tied the game.  Up until that point, it was Nick Markakis that kept the Orioles in the game with two RBI.

George Sherrill picked up the win for the Orioles.  Starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie picked up the no decision as he pitched six innings of six hit ball.  He did give up four runs (three of them earned) as he got hit pretty hard in the beginning of the game.

We will have to see if the Orioles use this momentum during the next few days to pick up some wins.  What do you think?

The Baltimore Orioles lost the Chicago White Sox by the score of 3-1 on Wednesday night.  It was a close game but the White Sox came out on top after  Jim Thome three-run home run in the first inning.

Adam Loewen pitched a pretty good ballgame besides giving up the three-run home run in the first inning to Thome.  Loewen ended up pitching six innings as he gave up six hits and the three earned runs.

Jim Johnson and Chad Bradford pitched the final three innings of the game and did not allow any runs to cross the plate so they did a good job.

The only run that the Orioles got was in the fourth inning when Aubrey Huff had an infield single that scored Nick Markakis.

Steve Trachsel and the Baltimore Orioles pitching staff all had a terrible game against the Toronto Blue Jays as the Orioles lost 11-3 on Tuesday night.  Orioles pitchers gave up 16 hits and 11 earned runs in the game that the Orioles really had no shot at winning.

Trachsel only pitched 2.1 innings and gave up five hits and five earned runs.  He walked three batters and also gave up one home run.  Greg Aquino pitched the next three innings and didn’t fare to much better as he gave up four earned runs on five hits.  Randor Bierd pitched two scoreless innings before Dennis Sarfate pitched the final inning and gave up two more earned runs on four hits.

Melvin Mora, Nick Markakis, and Adam Jones all had one RBI each for the Orioles.  The Orioles offense really had no chance at scoring enough runs to keep up with the Blue Jays in this game.  I put all the blame right on the pitching staff and I think Orioles fans would agree.

The Baltimore Orioles gave up two runs in the 9th inning, but they were able to hold on for the 4-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.  With the victory of the Blue Jays, the Orioles record now stands at 8-5 on the season.  Good pitching and timely hitting by the Orioles, have them off to a good start so far in 2008.

Kevin Millar led the Orioles hitters by knocking in three runs and hitting a home run.  Adam Jones also had a career high three hits for the Orioles.

Matt Albers allowed one run, five hits and a walk in five innings to earn his first win on the season.  The Orioles bullpen did a great job until the 9th inning when George Sherrill served up a two run home run to Alex Rios of the Blue Jays.  Luckily for the Orioles, they were able to hold on for the one run victory.

It wasn’t a good day for the Baltimore Orioles as they lost both games of the double header against the Texas Rangers.   We already blogged about the first game loss, and now it is time to tell you what happened in the second game.

Well the Orioles lost 5-4 as Chad Bradford took the loss.  Bradford gave up a run in the bottom of the 8th inning that proved to be the winning run for the Rangers.

Adam Loewen had started the game but got roughed up in his five innings of action.  He gave up six hits and four earned runs.  He also walked four hitters so his control was pretty bad in the game.

Jay Payton did hit a two-run homer for the Orioles.  Nick Markakis and Kevin Millar had the other two RBI’s for the offense.  They just couldn’t get that one or two runs that they needed late in the ballgame to pick up the win.

The Baltimore Orioles couldn’t muster much offense against the Texas Rangers as they lost by the score of 3-1 on Thursday.  The Orioles couldn’t get much offense going against Kevin Millwood as he held the Orioles hitters to only three hits.

Steve Trachsel took the loss for the Orioles and his record now stands at 1-1.  Trachsel did pitch 6.1 innings and allowed five hits and three earned runs.  He did strikeout two batters and walked four.

Ramon Hernandez was the only Orioles hitter to record an RBI.  Hernandez singled in Aubrey Huff in the 2nd inning for the only run that the Orioles scored.
