Right from the beginning the Orioles offense jumped all over White Sox starting pitcher John Danks. Brian Roberts and Aubrey Huff both finished the game with three rbi each. Huff had a two run home run and a sac fly for his three rbi while Roberts had a two run single and a rbi double. Kevin Millar and Melvin Mora both added solo home runs as well in the game as they finished wth one rbi each. Juan Castro also added two rbi to help out.
On the mound, Radhames Liz pitched 5 1/3 innings to get the win. Liz allowed three hits and two runs while picking up his fifth win of the season. Alberto Castillo, Lance Cormier, and Rocky Cherry all pitched in relief of Liz. Cormier was the only one to allow a run out of the bullpen as he gave up a solo home run to Jermaine Dye.
Good win for the Orioles! Orioles Blog
]]>Kevin Millar had three rbi to lead the time while Lou Montanez, Ramon Hernandez, and Juan Castro had two runs batted in each. Melvin Mora and Aubrey Huff both chipped in with an rbi each of their own. (I should mention that Huff cleared waivers but it is unknown if he will be traded to a team like the Brewers)
Orioles starting pitcher Daniel Cabrera was charged with eight hits and three runs in 5 2/3 innings. D. Cabrera ended up with the no decision as Fernando Cabrera got the win. Alberto Castillo made things interesting in the ninth inning when he gave up four hits and three runs. Talk about the offense coming back and picking up the pitching staff with those eight runs late in the game.
]]>Dennis Sarfate was the starter for the O’s and he gave up two hits and five runs in only four innings of action. Sarfate took the loss and is now 4-2 on the season. Brian Burres was up next and he allowed four runs in only 1 1/3 innings. Fernando Cabrera recorded only two outs as he was charged with three runs. And not to be left out, Alberto Castillo gave up one run.
Nick Makakis, Aubrey Huff, and Juan Castro all had one rbi each for the birds but it wasn’t nearly enough.
The Orioles are now off until Friday when they will take on the Seattle Mariners in Seattle.
I will not have any updates on the blog until August 12th or so because I will be out of town attending a conference for the next few weeks. If there is a Orioles fan out there that would like to write and do some game recaps, please email me by clicking the contact us link at the top of the page and we will talk.
Thanks, Cliff!
]]>The one runt hat the Orioles did get came in the 6th inning when Luke Scott it a rbi sac fly to score Aubrey Huff. It was just another bad outing by the offense who really gave the pitching staff no shot at winning.
Daniel Cabrera was rockied for 11 hits and seven runs in only five innings as he took the loss to fall to 6-6 on the season. Fernando Cabrera, Alberto Castillo, George Sherrill pitched the final four innings of the game and held the Blue Jays to seven runs. So atleast they did their job.
Things won’t get any easier for the Orioles as they are set to take on the Los Angeles Angels in a weekend series starting Friday night. I don’t like this series at all from a Orioles view. Baltimore Orioles Baseball
]]>Garrett Olson only lasted 4 2/3 as he gave up nine hits and six runs. Definately wasn’t the outing that Olson was hoping for as he was rocked. As bad as Olson pitched, he still didn’t receive the lost. Fernando Cabrera took the loss ass he gave up two runs in one inning of action. Alberto Castillo and Dennis Sarfate both gave up one run in relief as well.
Nick Markakis and Melvin Mora both hit two run shots while Ramon Hernandez hit a solo home run. Mora also had a two run double and then a rbi single as he finished the game with five rbi.
The series is now tied at two games each with two more to play. Orioles Blog
