I like this move the Orioles as it gives them a cheap starting pitcher without giving up too much. I think the change of scenery will do wonders for a kid like Hill. What’s everyone’s opinion on this deal?
]]>Don’t expect Izturis to put up high numbers at the plate, this is more of a defensive signing more then anything. He can provide a little bit of leadership for the younger players as well.
]]>The other two players the O’s will be getting are infielders Justin Turner and Brandon Waring.
The Orioles will also be eating part of Hernandez’s contract as he is due $8.5 million this next season.
]]>Radhames Liz pitched five innings and gave up five hits and five runs in the game. Four of the five runs were earned in the game as Liz took the loss and fell to 6-7 on the year. The O’s bullpen was pretty crappy on the night as well. Brian Burres gave up two hits and two runs, Rocky Cherry three runs, and Randor Bierd one run. Just a terrible night by the Orioles pitching staff.
Luke Scott had the only big hit for the Orioles as he had a three-run double in the in the first inning. Aubrey Huff and Oscar Salazar both had a rbi in the first inning as well. Nick Markakis added a rbi single in the second but that would be all the scoring for the O’s as they struggled the rest of the game against the Rays.
]]>Rocky Cherry took the loss after giving up a hit and two runs in one inning of action. Cherry had problems as he gave up three walks as well. Orioles starting pitcher Brian Bass tossed 4 2/3 innings and also gave up two runs.
Juan Castro walked to score the first O’s run when they had the bases loaded in the fifth inning. Brian Roberts then hit a sac fly for the Orioles second run. Not much offense as far as scoring runs for the Birds on Monday night.
Hopefully things will be better on Tuesday when the two teams face off once again.
]]>Aubrey Huff had the huge shot when he hit a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning that blew the game side open. Adam Jones then added a three run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning that extended the Orioles lead to nine runs and then Ramon Hernandez tacked on a two run shot to push the score to 14-3. Luke Scott was the first Orioles batter to hit a homer when he hit a solo shot in the fourth inning
Oscar Salazar had a two run single in the sixth inning as well for the Orioles offense. Great showing for the entire offense!
Garrett Olson was the winning pitcher for the Orioles as he tossed six innings. Olson allowed eight hits and three runs in the game while improving his record to 9-7. Lance Cormier tossed the seventh and eighth innings before turning things over to Jim Miller who finished off the Indians in the ninth inning.
]]>Orioles starting pitcher Lance Cormier pitched the first three innings and then Dennis Sarfate pitched the fourth through sixth innings. Jamie Walker and Rocky Cherry allowed two runs each however and the Red Sox tied up the game late. They then went on to win in the tenth inning on the error by Miller.
Luke Scott, Luis Montanez, and Guillermo Quiroz all had one rbi each in the game for the O’s. The first run that the Orioles scored came on an error and Brian Roberts scored.
The O’s will be off on Thursday and will then start up a weekend series with the Oakland A’s.
]]>Right from the beginning the Orioles offense jumped all over White Sox starting pitcher John Danks. Brian Roberts and Aubrey Huff both finished the game with three rbi each. Huff had a two run home run and a sac fly for his three rbi while Roberts had a two run single and a rbi double. Kevin Millar and Melvin Mora both added solo home runs as well in the game as they finished wth one rbi each. Juan Castro also added two rbi to help out.
On the mound, Radhames Liz pitched 5 1/3 innings to get the win. Liz allowed three hits and two runs while picking up his fifth win of the season. Alberto Castillo, Lance Cormier, and Rocky Cherry all pitched in relief of Liz. Cormier was the only one to allow a run out of the bullpen as he gave up a solo home run to Jermaine Dye.

]]>In the night cap, Chris Waters tossed seven innings and allowed five hits and four runs (three earned) while taking the loss. Waters record is now 2-1 on the season. The game winning run came off the bat of Jim Thome who hit a solo home run off Waters in the sixth inning.
All three of the Orioles rns came in the fourth inning on three different rbi singles. Ramon Hernandez, Kevin Millar, and Jay Payton all had rbi singles in the inning. As for the rest of the game, the O’s left 17 runners on base and struck out six times while only walking once.
]]>Chris Waters pitched five innings and allowed eight hits and five runs to get the win. Water certainately did not have his best stuff but it was enough to get the win as the offense scored so many runs. K. Mickolio was charged with one run in the eighth inning as well for the O’s but other then that the pitching staff was very good on Wednesday.
Ramon Hernandez and Melvin Mora both hit three run home runs to lead the O’s at the plate. Mora finished the game with four rbi while Hernandez had three. Brian Roberts added two rbi while Luis Montantez and Juan Castro added one rbi each.
