What a terrible game for the Baltimore Orioles as they allowed the Boston Red Sox to score five un-answered runs and come from behind to win 5-4. The Red Sox scored one run in the tenth inning on an error by pitcher Jim Miller who ended up taking the loss.

Orioles starting pitcher Lance Cormier pitched the first three innings and then Dennis Sarfate pitched the fourth through sixth innings. Jamie Walker and Rocky Cherry allowed two runs each however and the Red Sox tied up the game late. They then went on to win in the tenth inning on the error by Miller.

Luke Scott, Luis Montanez, and Guillermo Quiroz all had one rbi each in the game for the O’s. The first run that the Orioles scored came on an error and Brian Roberts scored.

The O’s will be off on Thursday and will then start up a weekend series with the Oakland A’s.

It sure wasn’t the Orioles day on Wednesday afternoon as they were beaten by the New York Yankees 13-3.  The Orioles were attempting to sweep the Yankees in the three game series but the Yankees had other thoughts.  Those thoughts were lets light up every Orioles pitcher that comes into the game!

Dennis Sarfate was the starter for the O’s and he gave up two hits and five runs in only four innings of action.  Sarfate took the loss and is now 4-2 on the season.  Brian Burres was up next and he allowed four runs in only 1 1/3 innings.  Fernando Cabrera recorded only two outs as he was charged with three runs.  And not to be left out, Alberto Castillo gave up one run.

Nick Makakis, Aubrey Huff, and Juan Castro all had one rbi each for the birds but it wasn’t nearly enough.

The Orioles are now off until Friday when they will take on the Seattle Mariners in Seattle.

I will not have any updates on the blog until August 12th or so because I will be out of town attending a conference for the next few weeks.  If there is a Orioles fan out there that would like to write and do some game recaps, please email me by clicking the contact us link at the top of the page and we will talk.

Thanks, Cliff!

The Baltimore Orioles couldn’t hold onto a lead as the game went on and they lost to the Blue Jays by the score of 10-8 on Tuesday night.  It was very dissappointing to see the O’s lose this game as they scored seven runs off Shaun Marcum the Blue Jays starter.  Usually when you score that many runs off a starting pitcher you are going to win the game but this just wasn’t the case.

Garrett Olson only lasted 4 2/3 as he gave up nine hits and six runs.  Definately wasn’t the outing that Olson was hoping for as he was rocked.  As bad as Olson pitched, he still didn’t receive the lost.  Fernando Cabrera took the loss ass he gave up two runs in one inning of action.  Alberto Castillo and Dennis Sarfate both gave up one run in relief as well.

Nick Markakis and Melvin Mora both hit two run shots while Ramon Hernandez hit a solo home run. Mora also had a two run double and then a rbi single as he finished the game with five rbi.

The series is now tied at two games each with two more to play.  Orioles Blog

The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 8-3 on Monday night as the two teams opened up a weekday series.  The Orioles got great production out of the offense while a decent outing on the mound from the pitchers as the improved to 48-50 on the season.

Radhames Liz tossed the first 5 2/3 innings while giving up three runs to pick up the win.  Liz is now 4-2 on the season.  The Orioles bullpen had a great outing as Dennis Sarfate recorded one out to get the O’s out of the sixth inning and then Chad Bradford, Jim Johnson, and Randor Bierd all tossed scoreless innings.

At the plate, Ramon Hernandez and Adam Jones both hit home runs.  Both of the home runs were two run shots.  Melvin Mora also finished the game with two rbi as he was right up there with Hernandez and Jones.  Brandon Fahey and Luke Scott both chipped in with one rbi as well.

Look for the Orioles to go up 2-0 in the series as they will play the Jays once again on Tuesday night.  Orioles Blog

The Baltimore Orioles lost a tough game on Tuesday night as the Toronto Blue Jays scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Orioles 7-6.  Any time your team loses in the final inning you are just stuck with that weird feeling in your stomach.  How many Orioles fans are feeling that right now?

Jim Johnson gave up the winning run in the ninth inning as he took the loss to fall to 2-3 on the season.  Johnson gave up a fielders choice to Scott Rolen in the final inning where Alex Rios scored when Freddie Bynum had an error.

Starting pitcher Daniel Cabrera lasted 6 1/3 innings while he gave up six hits and four runs.  Cabrera didn’t have his best stuff in the game that is for sure.  Dennis Sarfate also gave up two runs in relief of Cabrera.

Nick Markakis and Aubrey Huff led the Orioles at the plate with two rbi each.  Huff hit is 18th home run of the season in the game as well.  Adam Jones had one rbi as he contributed at the bottom of the order.

The Baltimore Orioles were able to snap their short two game losing streak on Tuesday night with a 7-5 victory over the visiting Kansas City Royals.  A four run third inning broke the game open for the Orioles as they went on to score seven runs in the game.

Radhames Liz pitched six innings and gave up seven hits and three runs.  Liz was taken deep twice in the game but other then that he pitched a pretty good game in my opinion.  Liz improved to 3-0 on the season as he picked up the win for the Orioles.  Adam Loewen tossed two innings of relief when Liz left the game and he did a pretty good job as well.  Loewen only gave up two hits and a walk in his two innings of action.  Dennis Sarfate started the ninth inning but after letting two runners on base, the Orioles brought in George Sherrill got the second out of the inning and then gave up a single and two runs to scored.  Sherrill was then able to strike out Alex Gordon to end the game.

Ramon Hernandez and Adam Jones both had two rbi each in the third inning to lead the Orioles at the plate with two rbi in the game.  Brian Roberts hit a solo home run in the seventh inning as he finished with one rbi.  Aubrey Huff finished the game with one rbi as well.  Huff singled in the first inning to score Roberts.

Good win for the Orioles as they bounced back after losing on Monday night to the Royals.

George Sherrill gave up a game tying home run to Miguel Olivo in the ninth inning as he blew the game and then Chad Bradford gave up a rbi single to Jose Guillen in the 11th inning as the Kansas City Royals came from behind to beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-5.  The Royals finished the game by scoring four unanswerd runs in the game.

Brian Burres started the game for the Orioles and pitched five innings while giving up five hits and one run.  Ryan Bukvich gave up two more runs in only one inning of action.  Dennis Sarfate also gave up one run in the game.

Ramon Hernandez had a solo home run for the Orioles at the plate in the third inning.  The Orioles four other runs all came in the fifth inning when Alex Cintron had a rbi ground rule double, Nick Markakis a rbi single, Aubrey Huff hit a rbi double, and then Kevin Millar added a rbi single that scored huff.

The offense was good enough to get the win, but the bullpen just couldn’t do their job.  Next time out, I would pretty much bet money that Sherrill will do his job and get the save.

The Baltimore Orioles got in a big hole early in the game as they fell behind 6-2 after the second inning and they were never able to get out of that hole as they lost 7-4 to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night.  Matt Albers who was making an emergency start ended up leaving in the first inning due to a shoulder injury.  He will be re-evaluated back in Baltimore to see if the injury is series.

Albers gave up three hits and four runs in the first inning before being taken out of the game.  He ended up taking the loss and is now 3-3 on the season.  With the Orioles having to call on the bullpen so early in the game, you knew things weren’t going to turn out that good.  Lance Cormier gave up six hits and two runs while Ryan Bukvich gave up three hits and one run.  Bukvich served up a home run to Jim Edmonds in the game as well.  Dennis Sarfate walked four batters but kept the Cubs off the scoreboard during his 1 2/3 innings of action.  Jamie Walker recorded the final out in the eighth inning and the bullpen was finally done for the game.

Jay Payton hit two two-run home runs off of Ted Lilly to account for all four runs the Orioles scored.  The wind was blowing out at Wrigley Field and Payton has always hit Lilly very well and he showed that once again on Wednesday night.  Payton now has six home runs on the season.

Radhames Liz will take the mound on Thursday and try to improve to 2-0 on the season.  The Orioles can win the series if they can pull out a win on Thursday.

The Baltimore Orioles finished up a three game sweep again the Houston Astros with a 7-5 victory on Thursday night.  What a great series for the Orioles as they won all three games and improved their record to 37-34 on the season.

Ramon Hernandez, Alex Cintron, and Aubrey Huff all hit solo home runs for the Orioles.  This game could have really been a blowout had any runners actually been on base when those home runs were hit!  Even though those three players hit home runs, Kevin Millar and Jay Payton both led the team with two rbi’s each. Millar had a two run double and Payton had a two run single in the fifth inning.

Brian Burres earned the victory after throwing 5 2/3 innings.  Burres is now 6-5 on the season.  He allowed seven hits and three runs over his five plus innings of action.  Matt Albers and Jim Johnson both pitched well but George Sherrill allowed two runners to score that were charged to Dennis Sarfate in the ninth inning.  Sherrill was finally able to end the game and pick up his 24th save however.

The Baltimore Orioles were going for the series win against the Boston Red Sox on Thurdsday night but they ran into a strong hitting Red Sox team as they lost 9-2.  The Red Sox hit three home runs including a grandslam as they beat the Orioles and were able to win two out of three games in the series.

Jeremy Guthrie threw the ball pretty bad as he pitched 4 2/3 innings to take the loss and drop his record to 3-7.  Guthrie allowed seven hits and five runs including the grand slam in the game.  Pretty much made the one mistake to Mike Lowell who hit the grand slam in the second inning.

The Orioles bullpen really wasn’t much better however as they gave up four more runs in the game.  After Guthrie was taken out of the game, Chad Bradford pitched a scored 1 1/3 inning and then Dennis Sarfate and Jamie Walker both gave up two runs each.

Both of the Orioles runs came in the sixth inning.  Salazar had a rbi double to score a run and then Aubrey Huff had a ground rule double that score another run in the inning.  There wasn’t a whole lot of production in the game for the O’s as the struckout six times and left 10 runners on base.  They really just seemed to have problems with Red Sox starter Jon Lester.

The Orioles will now take on the Pittsburgh Pirates in Baltimore over the weekend.  If you have time we really urge you to get out there and see a game in person and root the Orioles on!
