In a game that went back and forth between the Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox, it was the Orioles who came back in the eighth inning with four runs and beat the Red Sox 6-3.  A sacrafice fly Kevin Millar and then a bases loaded double by Adam Jones blew the game open.

Jones finished the game with three rbi while Millar had two rbi.  Aubrey Huff also had a rbi double in the fourth inning for the Orioles.

Jim Johnson got the win and is now 1-2 on the season.  Johnson pitched the eighth inning to notch the victory.  George Sherrill pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his 18th save of the season.  Sherrill did have some control problems however as he walked two batters.

Jeremy Guthrie got a no decision in the game after throwing 6 1/3 innings and giving up eight hits and two runs.

Good win for the O’s, and hopefully they can keep things going against the Red Sox!  Orioles Blog

The Baltimore Orioles swept the Boston Red Sox in a short two game series as they picked up a 6-3 win over the Red Sox on Wednesday.  Now the Orioles are only 2.5 games out of first place in the divison.  You quickly move up the standings when you beat other teams in your division the Orioles are finding out.

Daniel Cabrera improved his record to 4-1 as he pitched seven strong innings.  Cabrera gave up ten hits and three runs in the game.  He did give up two home runs but they were only solo home runs.  Matt Albers pitched an inning of relief before George Sherrill picked up his 15th save of the season in the ninth inning.

Jay Payton was the man for the Orioles at the plate.  Payton recorded five total rbi in the game as he had a rbi groundout and a grand slam in the game.  Nick Markakis also had a rbi as he singled in a run in the sixth inning.

Lets see if the Orioles can keep things going as they open up a series against the Washington Nationals on Friday.

Even without the presence of the Yankees star third baseman Alex Rodriguez for the late part of the game, the Orioles were unable to pull in a win at home on Sunday against the Yankees.  Unable to get a run on the board until late in the game in the 8th inning, Baltimore struggled all night against the pitching of Andy Pettitte and the Yankees bullpen.

Baltimore opened up the night with Steve Trachsel on the mound and kept him there for six and a third innings before giving up the spot to Chad Bradford who immediately gave up a 2 run home run to the Yankees.  Trachsel took the loss for the Orioles and is now 1-3 on the season.  George Sherrill also gave up three earned runs out of the bullpen for the Orioles.

Baltimore didn’t have much hitting happening for them all night with only Brian Roberts picking up an RBI and with Kevin Millar and Guillermo Quiroz each getting a double.

With the Orioles leaving for a 3 game match up against the Mariners in Seattle, will they be able to rest up on their day off to get a win on Tuesday?

Wow, what a win for the Baltimore Orioles as they came back to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth inning and then went on for the win in ten innings against the Chicago White Sox.  That is the momentum that the Orioles need to hopefully got on a nice winning streak in the next five to seven games.

Adam Jones singled in the game winning run in the 10th inning after the Orioles had tied the game in the bottom of the ninth inning.  In the ninth inning, the Orioles got RBI’s from Brian Roberts and Melvin Mora that tied the game.  Up until that point, it was Nick Markakis that kept the Orioles in the game with two RBI.

George Sherrill picked up the win for the Orioles.  Starting pitcher Jeremy Guthrie picked up the no decision as he pitched six innings of six hit ball.  He did give up four runs (three of them earned) as he got hit pretty hard in the beginning of the game.

We will have to see if the Orioles use this momentum during the next few days to pick up some wins.  What do you think?

The Baltimore Orioles gave up two runs in the 9th inning, but they were able to hold on for the 4-3 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.  With the victory of the Blue Jays, the Orioles record now stands at 8-5 on the season.  Good pitching and timely hitting by the Orioles, have them off to a good start so far in 2008.

Kevin Millar led the Orioles hitters by knocking in three runs and hitting a home run.  Adam Jones also had a career high three hits for the Orioles.

Matt Albers allowed one run, five hits and a walk in five innings to earn his first win on the season.  The Orioles bullpen did a great job until the 9th inning when George Sherrill served up a two run home run to Alex Rios of the Blue Jays.  Luckily for the Orioles, they were able to hold on for the one run victory.

Erik Bedard is no long a member of the Baltimore Orioles as he has been traded to the Seattle Mariners Friday afternoon.  Bedard has passed his physical so everything is done and over with after about a month of rumors.

In return for Bedard, the Orioles will be getting Adam Jones, George SherrillChris TillmanKam Mickolio and Tony Butler.  Great young players that can step in and help out the Orioles.  I have a feeling that this trade is going to look really good in 2-3 years once these young guys get some more experience behind them.

Good trade for the Orioles I think.  I really doubt they could have signed Bedard to a long term contract, so might as well get something out of him now.  Great deal!
