On a day that seen the Baltimore Orioles beat the Chicago White Sox in a suspended game, they dropped the night finale by the score 4-3. It would have been really nice to take two games from the Sox as they are fighting for the lead in the Central division but it just wasn’t meant to be.

In the night cap, Chris Waters tossed seven innings and allowed five hits and four runs (three earned) while taking the loss. Waters record is now 2-1 on the season. The game winning run came off the bat of Jim Thome who hit a solo home run off Waters in the sixth inning.

All three of the Orioles rns came in the fourth inning on three different rbi singles. Ramon Hernandez, Kevin Millar, and Jay Payton all had rbi singles in the inning. As for the rest of the game, the O’s left 17 runners on base and struck out six times while only walking once.

The Baltimore Orioles were beaten by the Toronto Blue Jays in the bottom of the ninth inning as they were swept in the three game series.  How many more times is this team going to blow games and let themselves and their fans down?  I know many Orioles fans that are extremely pissed off after this game.

George Sherrill gave up one walk and three hits as the Blue Jays scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to win the game.  Sherrill gave up a sac fly to Lyle Overbay and then the game winning rbi single to Adam Lind as the Blue Jays came back to win.

Jeremy Guthrie was the starting pitcher for the O’s and he pitched ok as he lasted seven innings.  Guthrie gave up four hits and two runs (one earned) in the game while getting stuck with the no decision.  Jim Johnson pitched one inning and gave up two hits and two runs.

At the plate, Melvin Mora led the team with two rbi which came in the eighth inning on a two run single.  Aubrey Huff, Jay Payton, and Brandon Fahey all added one rbi each in the game to help out but it wasn’t quite enough.

The Orioles now have one series left in the first half and they will take on the Boston Red Sox.  Will they even win one game? I doubt it…

The Baltimore Orioles got in a big hole early in the game as they fell behind 6-2 after the second inning and they were never able to get out of that hole as they lost 7-4 to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday night.  Matt Albers who was making an emergency start ended up leaving in the first inning due to a shoulder injury.  He will be re-evaluated back in Baltimore to see if the injury is series.

Albers gave up three hits and four runs in the first inning before being taken out of the game.  He ended up taking the loss and is now 3-3 on the season.  With the Orioles having to call on the bullpen so early in the game, you knew things weren’t going to turn out that good.  Lance Cormier gave up six hits and two runs while Ryan Bukvich gave up three hits and one run.  Bukvich served up a home run to Jim Edmonds in the game as well.  Dennis Sarfate walked four batters but kept the Cubs off the scoreboard during his 1 2/3 innings of action.  Jamie Walker recorded the final out in the eighth inning and the bullpen was finally done for the game.

Jay Payton hit two two-run home runs off of Ted Lilly to account for all four runs the Orioles scored.  The wind was blowing out at Wrigley Field and Payton has always hit Lilly very well and he showed that once again on Wednesday night.  Payton now has six home runs on the season.

Radhames Liz will take the mound on Thursday and try to improve to 2-0 on the season.  The Orioles can win the series if they can pull out a win on Thursday.

The Baltimore Orioles finished up a three game sweep again the Houston Astros with a 7-5 victory on Thursday night.  What a great series for the Orioles as they won all three games and improved their record to 37-34 on the season.

Ramon Hernandez, Alex Cintron, and Aubrey Huff all hit solo home runs for the Orioles.  This game could have really been a blowout had any runners actually been on base when those home runs were hit!  Even though those three players hit home runs, Kevin Millar and Jay Payton both led the team with two rbi’s each. Millar had a two run double and Payton had a two run single in the fifth inning.

Brian Burres earned the victory after throwing 5 2/3 innings.  Burres is now 6-5 on the season.  He allowed seven hits and three runs over his five plus innings of action.  Matt Albers and Jim Johnson both pitched well but George Sherrill allowed two runners to score that were charged to Dennis Sarfate in the ninth inning.  Sherrill was finally able to end the game and pick up his 24th save however.

The Baltimore Orioles swept the Boston Red Sox in a short two game series as they picked up a 6-3 win over the Red Sox on Wednesday.  Now the Orioles are only 2.5 games out of first place in the divison.  You quickly move up the standings when you beat other teams in your division the Orioles are finding out.

Daniel Cabrera improved his record to 4-1 as he pitched seven strong innings.  Cabrera gave up ten hits and three runs in the game.  He did give up two home runs but they were only solo home runs.  Matt Albers pitched an inning of relief before George Sherrill picked up his 15th save of the season in the ninth inning.

Jay Payton was the man for the Orioles at the plate.  Payton recorded five total rbi in the game as he had a rbi groundout and a grand slam in the game.  Nick Markakis also had a rbi as he singled in a run in the sixth inning.

Lets see if the Orioles can keep things going as they open up a series against the Washington Nationals on Friday.

The Baltimore Orioles picked up a nice win over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night by the score of 5-4.  The Orioles got a three run home run in the third inning from Luke Scott off of Red Sox starter Josh Beckett that proved to be enough for the Orioles.

Scott led the Orioles with three rbi all coming on the home run which was his second of the season.  Kevin Millar and Jay Payton both had one rbi in the game as well.

Jeremy Guthrie pitched six innings to pick up the win for the Orioles.  Guthrie is now 2-3 on the season.  He gave up eight hits and three runs in the game.  Only two of the runs were earned.  Jim Johnson also gave up a run in 1 1/3 innings of action.  George Sherrill pitched 1 2/3 innings to pick up his 14th save of the season.

The Baltimore Orioles rallied after being down five runs to the Seattle Mariners and pulled out a 8-7 victory.  The Orioles were quickly down five runs after only three innings of play, but that is when they turned things on at the plate and started to score some runs.

Jay Payton got things started in the fourth inning when he hit a solo home run to put the Orioles on the scoreboard.  In the fifth inning, Kevin Millar grounded into a double play, but did score one run.  The sixth inning, Adam Jones had a infield single that plated Payton.  It was the the seventh inning when the Orioles really did some damage as they scored four runs to take the lead.  That quickly went goodbye however as the Mariners came back and scored two runs in the bottom of the inning.  Good thing for Brian Roberts as he hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to give the Orioles a one run lead.

Chad Bradford pitched 1.1 innings of relief to pick up the win.  Bradford is now 2-1 on the season.  Starting pitcher Adam Loewen only lasted 2.2 innings as he gave up five runs on four hits.  Matt Albers and Jamie Walker both gave up a run out of the bullpen.

The hitters picked up the pitching staff on Thursday night, hopefully they won’t have to do that again on Friday when the Oriole start a series with the Chicago White Sox.

It wasn’t a good day for the Baltimore Orioles as they lost both games of the double header against the Texas Rangers.   We already blogged about the first game loss, and now it is time to tell you what happened in the second game.

Well the Orioles lost 5-4 as Chad Bradford took the loss.  Bradford gave up a run in the bottom of the 8th inning that proved to be the winning run for the Rangers.

Adam Loewen had started the game but got roughed up in his five innings of action.  He gave up six hits and four earned runs.  He also walked four hitters so his control was pretty bad in the game.

Jay Payton did hit a two-run homer for the Orioles.  Nick Markakis and Kevin Millar had the other two RBI’s for the offense.  They just couldn’t get that one or two runs that they needed late in the ballgame to pick up the win.
