The Baltimore Orioles were going for the series win against the Boston Red Sox on Thurdsday night but they ran into a strong hitting Red Sox team as they lost 9-2.  The Red Sox hit three home runs including a grandslam as they beat the Orioles and were able to win two out of three games in the series.

Jeremy Guthrie threw the ball pretty bad as he pitched 4 2/3 innings to take the loss and drop his record to 3-7.  Guthrie allowed seven hits and five runs including the grand slam in the game.  Pretty much made the one mistake to Mike Lowell who hit the grand slam in the second inning.

The Orioles bullpen really wasn’t much better however as they gave up four more runs in the game.  After Guthrie was taken out of the game, Chad Bradford pitched a scored 1 1/3 inning and then Dennis Sarfate and Jamie Walker both gave up two runs each.

Both of the Orioles runs came in the sixth inning.  Salazar had a rbi double to score a run and then Aubrey Huff had a ground rule double that score another run in the inning.  There wasn’t a whole lot of production in the game for the O’s as the struckout six times and left 10 runners on base.  They really just seemed to have problems with Red Sox starter Jon Lester.

The Orioles will now take on the Pittsburgh Pirates in Baltimore over the weekend.  If you have time we really urge you to get out there and see a game in person and root the Orioles on!

This Orioles Blog has to give the Baltimore Orioles a little bit of credit as they did battle back in Wednesday nights game against the Boston Red Sox as they scored two runs in the ninth inning.  To bad for the O’s however, they still lose the game by the score of 6-3.

Garrett Olson was the losing pitcher in the game as he threw 5 1/3 innings and allowe seven hits and six runs.  Olson was taken deep for home runs twice in the game.  The big hit that Olson gave up was a three run home run in the first inning to Jason Varitek.

Lance Cormier and Dennis Sarfate threw 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief after Olson was taken out of the game.

Luke Scott had a solo home run for the O’s in the fifth inning and then it wasn’t until the ninth inning when they scored again.  In the ninth inning, Kevin Millar doubled to score Aubrey Huff and then Millar scored on a error by Red Sox second basemen Dustin Pedroia.

The Orioles still have a shot at winning the series.  They will just have to beat the Red Sox on Thursday and take the rubber match of the series.

Nick Markakis and Adam Jones both hit home runs on Thursday as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the Minnesota Twins 3-2.  Markakis hit a two run homer in the third inning while Jones went deep for a solo home run in the seventh inning to give the O’s the lead and win.

Besides Markakis and Jones, the Orioles didn’t have a whole lot of success at the plate.  Brian Roberts, Kevin Millar, and Freddie Bynum were the only other players to record a hit in the game.

Garrett Olson pitched 6 1/3 innings and gave up eight hits and two runs to get the victory.  He is now 5-1 on the season.  Matt Albers and Jim Johnson got the O’s into the ninth inning where George Sherrill picked up his 20th save of the season.

The Baltimore Orioles could not keep up with the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night as the Orioles lost to the Twins by the score of 7-5.  Two Orioles out hit the Twins 10-9 but that ont hit didn’t amount to anything.

Brian Roberts had a rbi single and a rbi double to lead the Orioles with two rbi on the night.  Nick Markakis, Melvin Mora, and Kevin Millar all had one rbi.  Mora’s and Millar’s rbi’s both came via the home run ball as they both hit solo shots.

Daniel Cabrera fell to 5-2 on the season as he took the loss Wednesday night.  Cabrera pitched six innings and gave up eight hits and six runs in the game.  Cabrera just didn’t have his pitches working for him and he got hit pretty hard.

Jamie Walker gave up a run in the seventh inning as he pitched in relief.  Dennis Sarfate and Chad Bradford both pitched without allowing a run.

The Baltimore Orioles started off their three game series with the Minnesota Twins on the right foot with a 5-3 victory on Tuesday night.  The win puts the Orioles just one win away from the .500 mark as they sit at 28-29 on the season.

Kevin Millar and Melvin Mora both hit home runs for the Orioles.  Millar had a solo shot in the second inning while Moro added a solo shot in the sixth inning.  Adam Jones was the leading rbi guy on the night however as he finished with two rbi.  Brian Roberts also had a rbi triple in the fifth inning for the Orioles.

Radhames Liz got his first win of the season in the game as he tossed 5 1/3 innings and gave up four hits and two runs in the game.  Matt Albers then came into the game and pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up one run.  That was all the runs the Twins would get however as Jim Johnson and George Sherrill pitched the final two innings of scoreless baseball.  Sherrill earned his 19th save of the season in the game.

In a game that went back and forth between the Baltimore Orioles and the Boston Red Sox, it was the Orioles who came back in the eighth inning with four runs and beat the Red Sox 6-3.  A sacrafice fly Kevin Millar and then a bases loaded double by Adam Jones blew the game open.

Jones finished the game with three rbi while Millar had two rbi.  Aubrey Huff also had a rbi double in the fourth inning for the Orioles.

Jim Johnson got the win and is now 1-2 on the season.  Johnson pitched the eighth inning to notch the victory.  George Sherrill pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his 18th save of the season.  Sherrill did have some control problems however as he walked two batters.

Jeremy Guthrie got a no decision in the game after throwing 6 1/3 innings and giving up eight hits and two runs.

Good win for the O’s, and hopefully they can keep things going against the Red Sox!  Orioles Blog

The Baltimore Orioles were going for a sweep against the New York Yankees on Wednesday night but they were unable to come away with the win as they lost 4-1.  Any Orioles fan should be happy with the series however as the Orioles played some pretty good baseball.

Jeremy Guthrie took the loss for the O’s and is now 2-6 on the season.  He lasted seven innings and gave up six hits and three runs in the game.  Jamie Walker gave up one run in the ninth innig as well as he pitched out of the bullpen.

The two runs for the Orioles came off the bat of Melvin Mora who hit a two run home run in the third inning.  Other then that, the Orioles bat weren’t very good as they left 14 runners on base.

Jim Johnson gave up two hits and the game winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the New York Yankees beat the Baltimore Orioles 2-1 on Thursday night.  Johnson gave up the game winning hit to Robinson Cano who scored Hideki Matsui who singled to lead off the inning.

Johnson is now 0-2 on the season with a 1.44 era.  Just a bad outing by Johnson.  Starting pitcher Brian Burres pitched 7 2/3 innings in the game got the no decision.  Burres gave up  six hits and only one run in the game.  He deserved a much better outcome had the Orioles actually put some runs on the scoreboard.

The only Orioles run came in the third inning when Freddie Bynum tripled and Adam Jones scored.  Besides that triple, the Orioles only had four other hits in the game as they struggled against the Yankees pitchers.

The Baltimore Orioles got out to a early 9-0 lead as they put up seven runs in the first inning and then two more runs in the second inning as the went onto beat the New York Yankees 12-2.  Talk about coming out and putting pressure on the opposing team with nine early runs!

Kevin Millar and Luke Scott both hit home runs in the game, but by that time, the game was pretty much over.  Adam Jones led the Orioles at the plate with four rbi while Scott was second with two rbi.  Brian Roberts, Aubrey Huff, Ramon Hernandez, Freddie Bynum, and Millar all had one rbi in the game.

Daniel Cabrera limited the Yankees to only five hits and two runs through seven innings of action.  Cabrera improved to 5-1 with the win.  Lance Cormier pitched the final two innings and allowed two hits but no runs.
