The Baltimore Orioles held on for a 7-6 victory over the New York Yankees on Tuesday night.  A big four run seventh inning propelled the O’s to the big victory.  The Orioles did have a 7-3 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth inning but then the Yankees made things interesting as they scored three runs.

Aubrey Huff led the Orioles at the plate with a bases loaded clearing double in the seventh inning and a solo home run in the ninth inning.  Huff finished the game with a team high four rbi.  Melvin Mora was next in line with two rbi has he had a rbi single in the first inning that got the O’s on the scoreboard.  Kevin Millar finished up the scoring the the Orioles as he had a rbi double in the seventh inning.  Nice balanced scoring for the team against the Yankees.

Daniel Cabrera tossed seven innings while giving up eight hits and three runs to get the win.  It was a nice quality start for Cabrera as he improved to 7-6 on the year.  Jim Johnson pitched a scoreless inning and then George Sherrill threw the ninth inning.  Sherrill did have his problems as he gave up three runs and had the game tying run at second base.  Luckily Sherrill was finally able to get the final out with the Orioles still leading.

Great win for the Orioles and they will try to get another one on Wednesday.  Orioles Baseball Blog

The Baltimore Orioles offense once again only scored one run as they could not figure out Toronto Blue Jays starter Roy Halladay.  Halladay through seven strong innings while only allowing one run to the Orioles and then the Blue Jays bullpen pitched the final two innings without even giving up a hit to the O’s.  That is what you call a terribly outing by your offense.

The one runt hat the Orioles did get came in the 6th inning when Luke Scott it a rbi sac fly to score Aubrey Huff.  It was just another bad outing by the offense who really gave the pitching staff no shot at winning.

Daniel Cabrera was rockied for 11 hits and seven runs in only five innings as he took the loss to fall to 6-6 on the season.  Fernando Cabrera, Alberto Castillo, George Sherrill pitched the final four innings of the game and held the Blue Jays to seven runs.  So atleast they did their job.

Things won’t get any easier for the Orioles as they are set to take on the Los Angeles Angels in a weekend series starting Friday night.  I don’t like this series at all from a Orioles view.  Baltimore Orioles Baseball

A quick update as the second game today is getting ready to start.  The Orioles lost the suspended game from last night by the score of 5-1. The Orioles and Blue Jays finished up the game this morning and it was the Blue Jays that scored additional runs while the O’s really didn’t do anything.

Jeremy Guthrie took the loss after tossing 5 2/3 innings and giving up six hits and two runs.

Melvin Mora had the only rbi for the Orioles when he had a rbi infield single in the 4th inning.

Hopefully the O’s can come back and win the afternoon game.  We will be back with a recap after that game.

The Baltimore Orioles couldn’t hold onto a lead as the game went on and they lost to the Blue Jays by the score of 10-8 on Tuesday night.  It was very dissappointing to see the O’s lose this game as they scored seven runs off Shaun Marcum the Blue Jays starter.  Usually when you score that many runs off a starting pitcher you are going to win the game but this just wasn’t the case.

Garrett Olson only lasted 4 2/3 as he gave up nine hits and six runs.  Definately wasn’t the outing that Olson was hoping for as he was rocked.  As bad as Olson pitched, he still didn’t receive the lost.  Fernando Cabrera took the loss ass he gave up two runs in one inning of action.  Alberto Castillo and Dennis Sarfate both gave up one run in relief as well.

Nick Markakis and Melvin Mora both hit two run shots while Ramon Hernandez hit a solo home run. Mora also had a two run double and then a rbi single as he finished the game with five rbi.

The series is now tied at two games each with two more to play.  Orioles Blog

The Baltimore Orioles defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 8-3 on Monday night as the two teams opened up a weekday series.  The Orioles got great production out of the offense while a decent outing on the mound from the pitchers as the improved to 48-50 on the season.

Radhames Liz tossed the first 5 2/3 innings while giving up three runs to pick up the win.  Liz is now 4-2 on the season.  The Orioles bullpen had a great outing as Dennis Sarfate recorded one out to get the O’s out of the sixth inning and then Chad Bradford, Jim Johnson, and Randor Bierd all tossed scoreless innings.

At the plate, Ramon Hernandez and Adam Jones both hit home runs.  Both of the home runs were two run shots.  Melvin Mora also finished the game with two rbi as he was right up there with Hernandez and Jones.  Brandon Fahey and Luke Scott both chipped in with one rbi as well.

Look for the Orioles to go up 2-0 in the series as they will play the Jays once again on Tuesday night.  Orioles Blog

The Baltimore Orioles were beaten by the Toronto Blue Jays in the bottom of the ninth inning as they were swept in the three game series.  How many more times is this team going to blow games and let themselves and their fans down?  I know many Orioles fans that are extremely pissed off after this game.

George Sherrill gave up one walk and three hits as the Blue Jays scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to win the game.  Sherrill gave up a sac fly to Lyle Overbay and then the game winning rbi single to Adam Lind as the Blue Jays came back to win.

Jeremy Guthrie was the starting pitcher for the O’s and he pitched ok as he lasted seven innings.  Guthrie gave up four hits and two runs (one earned) in the game while getting stuck with the no decision.  Jim Johnson pitched one inning and gave up two hits and two runs.

At the plate, Melvin Mora led the team with two rbi which came in the eighth inning on a two run single.  Aubrey Huff, Jay Payton, and Brandon Fahey all added one rbi each in the game to help out but it wasn’t quite enough.

The Orioles now have one series left in the first half and they will take on the Boston Red Sox.  Will they even win one game? I doubt it…

The Baltimore Orioles suffered a 9-8 set back against the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday night.  It was a high scoring game and the Orioles just couldn’t keep up with the Blue Jays on the scoreboard.  The Orioles will now have to win on Thursday to avoid the three game sweep.

Garrett Olson tossed 3 2/3 innings and was pulled after giving up seven hits and seven runs.  Olson also waked four batters as he didn’t have any control of the ball and was hit hard when he wasn’t busy walking other batters.  Lance Cormier pitched the next two innings of the game and gave up three hits and two more runs.  Fernando Cabrera and Greg Aquino were finally able to get things settled down as the finished up the game on the mound for the O’s.

The Orioles scored first in the fourth inning when Kevin Millar had a rbi single.  In the sixth inning they pushed across six more runs as Adam Jones clubbed a three run home run and two rbi singles by Melvin Mora and Ramon HernandezNick Markakis hit a solo home run in the ninth inning to draw the O’s within one but that was as close as they would get.  The O’s put a lot of runs on the board but the pitching staff was terrible on the night.

So will the O’s come back and win on Thursday to avoid the three game sweep?  Orioles Blog

The Baltimore Orioles lost a tough game on Tuesday night as the Toronto Blue Jays scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat the Orioles 7-6.  Any time your team loses in the final inning you are just stuck with that weird feeling in your stomach.  How many Orioles fans are feeling that right now?

Jim Johnson gave up the winning run in the ninth inning as he took the loss to fall to 2-3 on the season.  Johnson gave up a fielders choice to Scott Rolen in the final inning where Alex Rios scored when Freddie Bynum had an error.

Starting pitcher Daniel Cabrera lasted 6 1/3 innings while he gave up six hits and four runs.  Cabrera didn’t have his best stuff in the game that is for sure.  Dennis Sarfate also gave up two runs in relief of Cabrera.

Nick Markakis and Aubrey Huff led the Orioles at the plate with two rbi each.  Huff hit is 18th home run of the season in the game as well.  Adam Jones had one rbi as he contributed at the bottom of the order.

The Baltimore Orioles improved to 43-40 on the season as they beat the Kansas City Royals by the score of 5-2.  had ten hits and five runs in the game as they roughed up Royals starter Gil Meche.  Now the Orioles are up 2-1 in the four game series and the Royals will have to win on Thursday to salvage a split.

Aubrey Huff got the Orioles on the scoreboard in the first inning with a two run homer.  Huff led the O’s at the plate with two rbi.  In the third inning, Luke Scott had a rbi single that scored Nick Markakis.  Markakis then got in to the rbi column in the fifth inning with a rbi triple that scored Brian RobertsRamon Herndandez also added a rbi single in the fifth inning as Markakis scored another run.

Daniel Cabrera tossed a complete game as he picked up the win and improved to 6-4.  Caberea threw the ball very well as he limited held the Royals to only two runs on seven hits while striking out two batters.  David DeJesus hit a solo home run off Cabrera to start the game but then he settled down and the only other run to score came on a double play in the third inning.

I think the Orioles will win on Thursday and take three out of four from the Royals.  What do you think?

The Baltimore Orioles were able to snap their short two game losing streak on Tuesday night with a 7-5 victory over the visiting Kansas City Royals.  A four run third inning broke the game open for the Orioles as they went on to score seven runs in the game.

Radhames Liz pitched six innings and gave up seven hits and three runs.  Liz was taken deep twice in the game but other then that he pitched a pretty good game in my opinion.  Liz improved to 3-0 on the season as he picked up the win for the Orioles.  Adam Loewen tossed two innings of relief when Liz left the game and he did a pretty good job as well.  Loewen only gave up two hits and a walk in his two innings of action.  Dennis Sarfate started the ninth inning but after letting two runners on base, the Orioles brought in George Sherrill got the second out of the inning and then gave up a single and two runs to scored.  Sherrill was then able to strike out Alex Gordon to end the game.

Ramon Hernandez and Adam Jones both had two rbi each in the third inning to lead the Orioles at the plate with two rbi in the game.  Brian Roberts hit a solo home run in the seventh inning as he finished with one rbi.  Aubrey Huff finished the game with one rbi as well.  Huff singled in the first inning to score Roberts.

Good win for the Orioles as they bounced back after losing on Monday night to the Royals.
